How we approach an Interior project
Introduction:
It is custom for a client to create an initial brief, where the estimated works, budget, timeline, location, inspirational imagery, and company or private details are summarised.
Upon reaching out to us, we'll schedule an initial call to discuss the project and address any questions we may have to generate a quote.
Following our discussion, you'll receive an updated brief, scope of work, and a quotation for either some or all of the design services outlined below.
Concept Development:
Receiving the client's brief and transforming it into a concept, typically visualised as a collection of images on a mood board, captures the client's requirements and conveys the overall aesthetics such as design ideas, joinery details, FF&E selection and materiality.
Upon request, a separate material board or FF&E board can be added into the presentation.
Included are black and white layout plan options, considering factors like required capacity, staff movement, positions of waiter stations for F&B projects, product display areas, fitting rooms, counters, storage for retail projects, as well as layouts for kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, and bathrooms in residential projects.
Black and white elevations or sections of these spaces can be included based on specific requirements and budget constraints.
Extra time and fees apply for coloured 2D layout plans, elevations illustrating materiality, and any additional work beyond the original scope outlined in the brief.
Schematic Design:
During this phase, a more detailed exploration of the project's materials involves obtaining physical samples from suppliers.
Materials are incorporated into a finishes schedule, which the project contractor utilises to evaluate the project's cost.
The development of an FF&E schedule provides information such as supplier details, pricing, lead times, and other information, enabling the client or contractor to place orders for these items. In many instances, a trade discount is applicable to FF&E products when ordered business-to-business (B2B).
Visuals or CGI’s (Computer Generated Images) can be created on request to vividly visualise the interior's materials, finishes, lighting, FF&E, planting, etc, allowing a comprehensive understanding of the project's design aesthetics. Additional time and fees are applicable for GCI’s.
Construction Documentation:
Detailed plans are produced to illustrate the overall layout of the space, including the existing arrangement, demolition plan, builders' work and service plan, floor finishes plan, wall finishes plan, reflected ceiling plan, small power plan, and FF&E plan.
Detailed Elevations provide information on wall finishes, FF&E locations, overall dimensions, general annotations, and working drawing references.
Working drawings comprise detailed plans, elevations, and sections of joinery pieces such as counters, banquette seating, waiter stations, interior features, as well as bespoke details for lighting, tables, and chairs if required.
Schedules for finishes, FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment), lighting, and doors are created to assist the contractor during the project's construction phase and for administrative purposes throughout its development.
Administration:
If necessary, throughout the development of a project, we handle all its administration, including coordinating with lighting, fire, and MEP consultants, overseeing FF&E delivery to the site, conducting weekly site visits, facilitating discussions with the GM, client, and contractor, and addressing any snags just before project handover.
Administrative fees are applicable to each mentioned phase, and this fee will be discounted upon receiving a complete project encompassing Concept Development, Schematic Design, and Construction Documentation.
FF&E DesignS
How we Approach Furniture, Fixture and Equipment Design.
If you have a specific idea in mind for a custom piece, we recommend exploring our FF&E page to grasp our modern, functional, and minimalist design aesthetic. Our approach is grounded in the belief that technology can handle 95% of the manufacturing process, with the remaining 5% devoted to assembly. The character and personalisation of each piece emerge from close collaboration with our clients. Using 3D software, we design each item, which is then sent directly to the machines for precise fabrication. Our thorough understanding of manufacturing technologies and the materials used in laser cutting, bending, and CNC industries ensures an accurate and well-communicated process from start to finish. The possibilities are limitless, so feel free to reach out to us to discuss your ideas and vision for custom-made or mass-produced FF&E items.
Introduction:
It is custom for a client to send us inspirational imagery and a short brief where budget, timeline and company or private details are summarised.
Upon reaching out to us, we'll schedule an initial call to discuss the project and address any questions we may have to generate a quote.
Following our discussion, you'll receive an updated brief, scope of work, and a quotation for our design and production services outlined below.
Prototype Development:
Here, we begin gathering additional images based on those provided by the client to align their vision with our production techniques.
In this phase, several prototypes are visualised using 3D software, showcasing different materialities to illustrate the proof of concept stage.
Prototype Production:
An initial 3D prototype will be generated to identify any flaws in the design or production techniques.
If any complications are identified, they are documented and addressed in the design.
Materiality is deliberated with respect to quality, usage, and end-of-life considerations, with a focus on circular economy principles.
Final Prototype Sign Off:
The final prototype is manufactured and approved by the client.
This entails a comprehensive schedule detailing all components such as metal, timber, or upholstery parts, supplier contact details, quantities, profit margins, etc., tailored to the project's scope, whether it's a custom bespoke endeavour or intended for larger-scale production for resale.
Testing FF&E:
For commercial utilisation of FF&E products, they must undergo testing according to specific BS or EU standards. We collaborate with top testing centers in the UK and EU, providing guidance on necessary testing procedures and aiding in obtaining the required certificates.
